the mother of all bribes

Dillon has issues with going to the bathroom…major issues. After years of leg crossing and countless attempts to get him to go on his own without holding it in, I am bringing out the big guns.

For those of you who don’t know, the Lego video games are his favorite thing in the world. We have Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones and he loves them. Today, after months of waiting, Lego Batman came out.

This morning, we went to the store and bought it…. but it is to remain unopened until he goes a week without crossing his legs. We even made a cool chart and put it on the fridge. If this doesn’t work, nothing will….

Dentist

In Dillon on September 19, 2008 by mygoodlife

Today Dillon had his first dentist appointment. I was very nervous about it because I thought that he had some cavities. For those of you who don’t know Dillon’s history, he HATES getting his teeth brushed. For almost two years, he threw enormous fits whenever we would try to brush his teeth and now he just tolerates it. He also drank milk through the night for a long time when he was younger, which isn’t good for his teeth either.

Miraculously, his teeth are in perfect shape with no cavities! I was so happy and relieved! I was also excited to hear that the gaps in his teeth are normal. The dentist said that the bigger the gaps the better with kids’ baby teeth because it allows room for the adult teeth to come in. He didn’t think that Dillon would ever need braces due to overcrowding. He also behaved perfectly and did everything that they asked him to. It was a very good day!

Last night’s conversation…

In Dillon on September 18, 2008 by mygoodlife

Dillon: This is not your house anymore, it is just my house and I am going to stay here by myself.

me: What will you do when you have to go to the bathroom?

Dillon: I will go by myself.

me: What will you do when you want chocolate milk?

Dillon: I will keep you here for that.

soccer

In Dillon on September 7, 2008 by mygoodlife

Dillon’s first soccer game was last weekend. For the preschool age, there is a 30 minute practice and then a 30 minute game back-to-back. We really like the approach at this age so the kids don’t get overwhelmed or bored by an hour long practice and game. Dillon LOVED the practice when every kid had their own ball and they were working on skills, but the game was another story. He did not like 6 kids on the field and one ball… and he is not the most aggresive child so he didn’t get the ball much. We will have to work on this because he is pretty much only happy when he has the ball.

Cameron loves to watch her big brother play sports. I am very thankful for this since most siblings would want to be on the field playing as well. She is very content by sitting on the sidelines and cheering.

Dillon’s 1st day

In Dillon on September 4, 2008 by mygoodlife

Last Friday was Dillon’s first day of preschool. He is going three mornings a week this year.

When the kids gets to the classroom, they pick a puzzle and find their name on the floor.

He has two girls in his class this year that were in his class last year. I really like his teacher and it looks like it’s going to be a fun year!
